Leland Masters, 82, Bristol

Obit-MastersLeland E. “Lee” Masters, 82, of 18 Franca Drive in Bristol, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice E. (Webster) Masters, his wife of 62 years.

Born in Holley, N.Y. on Nov. 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Emory and Marion (Cliff) Masters. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1947, serving for 21 years and achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer Electrician’s Mate. Upon Retiring from the Navy in 1969, he worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Bristol. He also operated Lee’s Variety Store near the Bristol Town Common until fire damaged the building it occupied. Self-employed as an electric motor and appliance repairman for Masters and Sons of Bristol, he also worked at Walco Electric in Providence.

Mr. Masters was a member of The Gideons International, Newport, R.I. camp and was an active member of Abundant Assembly of God in North Swansea, Ma. Lee, along with his wife, had formerly ministered to the youth of their neighborhood with a time of singing and bible stories to enrich the lives of so many people. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Bristol and Radiant Life, formerly known as Church of the Holy Spirit in Warren.

Besides his wife, he leaves his six grieving children, Steven Masters and his wife Chris of Englewood, Fla., Lee Masters and his wife Linda of Rehoboth, Ma., Mark Masters and his partner Kathy Fox of Johnston, Timothy Masters and his wife Beth of North Kingstown, Daniel Masters of Bristol and Kathleen Masters of Warren; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
