Laura Sears Moniz, 71, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at RI Hospital, Providence, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Braz) Medeiros.
Laura was employed at Roger Williams University for over 20 years until her retirement in 2008. She was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth’s Church and volunteered for various events and programs for the community. Laura also served as a foster grandparent at Bristol Public Schools. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, sisters, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed dancing, volunteering, cooking and spending time with family.
She is survived by a son, Steven Sears of Seekonk, Mass.; daughters, Dawn Sears Callaghan of Fairfax, Vir. and Laurie Allen of Merritt Island, Flor.; grandchildren, Kenneth, Brandon, and Felicia Allen, Cameron, Connor and Caiden Sears, Christian and Siena Callaghan; and a sister, Rose Bookout of Plymouth, Mich.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
