obit - poirierKathleen M. (Condon) Poirier, 58, of Bristol, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Paul E. Poirier.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie (Malone) Condon of Barrington. She lived in Bristol for more than 30 years.

Kathy attended Our Lady of Fatima High School and graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island Nursing School. She was a Registered Nurse, working at Riverwood Mental Health Services in Warren as the Mobile Team Lead. She created a mental health care service program that has been recognized as a professional standard model within the mental health industry. Kathy was also Director of Nursing at Hattie Ide Chaffee Nursing Home for more than 15 years and worked at Miriam Hospital’s Oncology Unit.

Kathy will be remembered as a loyal friend, known for her professionalism and compassionate treatment of patients and clients. She had a love for cooking, baking, vacationing in New Hampshire and most of all spending time with her grandson, Emerson.

She leaves two sons, Emerson Torrey and his wife Amy of Bristol and Nathan Torrey of Providence; one grandson, Emerson M. Torrey; and three sisters, Patricia Schauble and her husband Kenneth of Barrington, Christine Groves and her fiancé Jack Tobin of Seekonk, and Margaret Chobanian and her husband Stephen of Rehoboth.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral Home & Memorial Services, 8 School House Road, Warren, where family will receive friends on Friday, May 2from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass services will be private. See www.wjsmithfh.com
