Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John H. Riley Sr. and the late Madeline V. (Gadsby) Riley. He was a serviceman in the U.S. Army. Dr. Riley was a member of the NRA. He played the fiddle and loved his bluegrass music.
Survivors also include a son, John H. Riley III and his wife Kathleen of Tiverton; two daughters, Joanne D’Amato and her husband Tim of Connecticut, and Deborah Ann Lang and her husband David of Rhode Island; six grandchildren; his former wife, Virginia (Levesque) Riley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His memorial service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, at 2:30 p.m. Memorial visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
