Joan B. (Blass) Behrman of Westport Point and Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Needham, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the age of 78.
Joan grew up in Marshfield and was a graduate of the Mass. General Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. She was a registered nurse at the former Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham for over 30 years.
Joan lived in Needham into the 1990’s and spent the summers in Westport Point and winters in Punta Gorda, Florida. She and her late husband taught a GED program in Florida. Joan enjoyed knitting and was an active member of the Westport Senior Center.
The beloved wife of the late Robert J. Behrman, she was the loving mother of Robert J. Behrman II and his wife Jeanne of Bellingham, Dr. Stephen W. Behrman and his wife Robyn of Memphis, Tenn., and Suzanne Derenzo of Needham; sister of Ken Blass of South Yarmouth; and dear grandmother of Anneliese, Arthur and Caroline Behrman.
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect St., Waltham, on Friday, June 21, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham , are Friday from 4-7 p.m.
