Born on April 6, 1924, in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Yvonne (Laliberte) Bessette.
Mrs. Dube was an active parishioner in St. Barnabas, where she taught CCD and was a member of both the Women’s Guild and the 200 Club at the church. A military wife for most her life, she enjoyed travelling to many places with her husband including Alaska, Mexico and Japan. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, enjoyed arts and crafts, particularly painting on ceramics. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Robert A. Dube Jr. of Newport, and Paul T. and Vicki Dube of Portsmouth; her daughters, Jacqueline and Ron Cruz of Bristol, Michele and Aaron Polselli, Elaine McDermott and Denise and Gary Oliveira all of Portsmouth; her brothers, Norman Bessette of Seekonk, Mass., and Bernard Bessette of Pawtucket; her sisters, Bernadette LaPointe of South Attleboro, Mass., Theresa Norquist of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Marie Gentile of Coventry; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Simonne Gentile and Diane Wood, her brother Michael Bessette and her granddaughter, Allison Dube.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 30,, from 4-7 p.m., in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Her funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 3, at 9 a.m., from the Connors Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10 a.m., in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown.
