Howard Morse, of Bristol, formerly of Amherst, N.H., died peacefully on Aug. 13, 2013. Howard was the husband of Ann Morse, to whom he had been married for 56 years, and the father of Nesha Morse and Liz Beth Walker of Ribera, N.M., Carolyn James of Providence, and Bill and Julie Morse of Concord, N.H. He was the son of the late Samuel and Rosalyn Morse and the brother of Nancy Morse of New York, N.Y.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and a devoted friend and mentor, Howard was a man of great spirit, who touched many lives with his giving heart, keen sense of fairness and justice and good nature. He possessed virtually unbounded energy, enthusiasm and passion and approached every day as a new opportunity to help others. His legacy will live on in the lives and hearts of all who knew him.
Howard was born in Passaic, N.J. and graduated from Lehigh University. He worked for many years in the food and beverage businesses. He enjoyed traveling, good food and wine, and especially the company of his family and friends. Howard was an activist and champion of numerous social causes. He was also an avid Red Sox fan.
In addition to Ann, his children and his sister, Howard left three adored grandchildren, Sam James of New York, N.Y., and Eli and Hannah Morse of Concord, N.H. A fourth grandchild is expected in December. He also left two loving nephews and their families.
A burial service attended by his family was held on Aug. 17 at Howard’s burial site in Swan Point Cemetery in Providence. His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Brown University Oncology Research Group, 233 Richmond Street, GR001, Providence, R.I. 02903 and/or the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice Care Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 (www.HCRI.org).
