Greta Street, 91, formerly of Bristol


Greta StreetGreta (Bartlett) Street, 91, passed away on Friday, Aug. 1, in Alamo, Texas.

She was born in Williamsburg, NB, Canada, daughter of Robert S. and Annie (O’hara) Bartlett. At the age of 11, she was adopted by her uncle, Frederick J. Bartlett and his wife Louisa (Brayton) Bartlett and brought to Warren, where she lived until she married Henry A. Street, Jr. in 1972. Greta and Henry lived most of their lives at North Farm in Bristol.

Mrs. Street was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 2005; two brothers, Carl F. Bartlett and Otto L. Bartlett; and a sister, Cora (Bartlett) Scott. She leaves behind a step-mother, Eva (Dorcas) Bartlett of Fredericton, NB; three brothers, Vincent R. Bartlett of Williamsburg, NB, Robert S. Bartlett of Fredericton, NB, Ronald S. Bartlett of Alamo, Texas; a sister, Vivian (Bartlett) Coughlan of Halifax, NS, Canada; a step-daughter, Stephanie (Street) Martin of Bristol; six step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Martin) Belvin and Charles S. Martin, Emily F. Belvin, Andrew Belvin, Charles Concannon Hunt Martin and Hope Andersen Street Martin, all of Rhode Island.

Mrs. Street will be remembered by all for her gentle nature, humor, love for children and her generous donations to many worthy charities. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of her life on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Bristol, High Street. Burial was private alongside her husband in Juniper HIll Cemetery, Bristol. God Bless her soul.
