Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Verginio and Margarida (Medeiros) Sousa. He was the father of Jennifer Sousa Ramirez of Bristol, grandfather of Sofia and Miguel Ramirez of Bristol; father-in-law of Javier Ramirez of Warren; brother of Agnes Costa of Bristol, Helen Tudino of North Smithfield, James Sousa of West Warwick and the late Joseph Sousa, Dennis Sousa and Virgil Sousa.
Mr. Sousa was an accomplished artist whose beautiful works of art are all over the world. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Bristol for more than 30 years. Frank also served in the US Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany in 1945 at the end of the war. He was an avid reader and listener of classical music and opera. His greatest accomplishment was being a dedicated husband, and father and a loving grandfather.
His funeral was held Aug. 5 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Dutra at St. Elizabeth Church. The liturgical readings were by Manuel Pereira and Sofia Ramirez. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Margaret Alegria. The offertory gifts were presented by Jennifer Sousa Ramirez, Sofia Ramirez and Miguel Ramirez. The eulogy was given by Jennifer Sousa Ramirez. Burial followed at North Burial Ground. Serving as pallbearers were John Rego, Louie Rego, Paul Rego, Joe Oliveira, Matthew Costa and Steve Costa.
