Mr. Fernando DaSilva, age 86 of 5 Villa Ave., died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Maria Louisa (Moitoso) DaSilva, his wife of 52 years.
Born in Castelo Branco, Faial, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio E. and Maria A. Rocha-DaSilva.
He was a carpenter for many years for Pearson Yachts in Bristol, retiring a number of years ago. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and active on various Feast Committees at the church over the years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Fred DaSilva and his wife Laurie and Lezette DaSilva, all of Bristol, and Carlos DaSilva and his wife, Belmira; and a sister, Bernadette Quadros, all of Faial, Azores; six grandchildren, Tracy L. DaSilva and her partner, Amanda Rego, Nicole L. DaSilva, Joshua DaSilva and his wife, Felicia, Kayla Stanzione, Carla Rosa and Tatiana DaSilva’ and two great-grandsons, Lourenco Furtado and Vincente Rosa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Idalina DaSilva.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Monday, Oct.14, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m.
