Eunice (Megathlin) Hanson, of Bristol passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital.
Eunice was a lifelong resident of Bristol and beloved by so many people who’s lives she touched in town and beyond. She gave selflessly of herself and her time. She was a moral compass for her family and friends and was the type of person we should all strive to be. She never failed to have a kind word or story for anyone she ran into no matter where in town it was. She was a tried and true Bristolian in the best sense of the word.
She was born in Fall River and resided in Bristol with her father John “Harold,” mother Dorothy, and sister Janyce and loved her family very much. She enjoyed many summers on Prudence Island.
She spent her career working in the insurance industry in various capacities until retirement and was well liked and respected by all of her peers. First and foremost, she loved her family and shared a mutually deep very strong bond with her son, was a faithful congregant of St. Michael’s Church, and loved her Fourth of July parade and never missed one.
She had a very close-knit and deeply loved group of friends and the bonds they shared defies description. Her last days were spent with her family and closest friends.
She leaves her son Wade Hanson of Bristol and her sister Janyce McKenzie of Warwick.
Her memorial service was held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Bristol.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen, 378 Hope Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
