Dimond Vaz, 96, Tiverton

Dimond Vaz 001Dimond “Gramps” Vaz, 96, of Tiverton, died on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.  He was the widower of Flora Mae (Helger) Vaz.  Born in Dighton, Mass., he was the son of the late Frances (Silva) and Emmanuel Vaz.
He had formerly worked as mechanic at Ray’s Auto Garage and was the former owner of Flo’s Drive In of Portsmouth.  He had served in the US Army.
He is survived by his daughters, Mildred Folger and Cynthia Mello.  He also leaves  five grandchildren and five  great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Arimued, Arthur, Alfred and Anthony Vaz.
Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 15,  from 7-9 p.m..  His funeral will be held Wednesday
at the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton, at 9:30 a.m.  Graveside Ssrvices at Pocasset Hill Cemetery. www.almeida-pocasset.com
