Charles Preston Isherwood, 92, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Tiverton, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2014, at Heartland Rehabilitation in Fort Myers. He was the husband of the late Jean (Durfee) Isherwood who passed in 1984. Charles then became the long-time companion of Shirley Burr Darling of Denver, Colorado.
Charles graduated from Moses Brown in 1940 and then from Brown University in 1944. He served
his country during World War II with the 102nd Infantry of the United States Army. He was awarded three Battle Stars, including the Combat Infantry Badge.
His professional career spanned over 35 years in the insurance industry at Starkweather and Shepley in Providence, receiving his CLU in 1963, then retiring to Florida in 1984.
Mr. Isherwood had three children, David Durfee Isherwood, Mark Preston Isherwood and Jane Isherwood Lemos; a grandson, Jesse Preston Lemos, and a sister in law, Louise Durfee.
A memorial service for Charles will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Main Road, Tiverton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend; burial will be private.
