Born in Warren, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Harris) Trombley, she was a lifelong area resident, and resided in Riverside at Crescent View Manor for 29 years before returning to Warren.
Mrs. Fontes was worked for Premier Thread for many years until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. Jean’s Church in Warren. Mrs. Fontes loved to travel and enjoyed arts and crafts, especially ceramics in her earlier years; later, she became an avid bingo player. Most of all, she loved her family and was deeply cared for by her son George, who she came to live with when she became ill.
She leaves her sons, George Fontes Jr., husband of the late Beverly Fontes of Warren, and James Fontes and his wife Patti of Barrington; a brother, Joseph Trombley and his wife Rose of Warren; and one grandson, James Fontes Jr. She was the sister of the late George, Earnest and Clarance Trombley and Alice Pontes, Edna Palumbo and Mary Fontes.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26. Funeral services are 9 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10 a.m. in St. Jean’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Jean-Baptiste Cemetery, Warren.
