Anton F. Herden, 100, of Barrington and Spring Hill, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Arline M. (Mocksch) Herden.
Born in New York he was the son of the late Anton P. and Rose Herden.
Anton was a letter carrier for the US Post Office in Barrington, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary serving as Past Commander, a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II. He celebrated his 100th birthday on Feb. 29 with more than 100 people in attendance in Spring Hill, Fla.
He is survived by his two sons, Donald C. Herden and his wife Roberta of Fla., Gary P. Herden and his wife Mary of Barrington; five grandchildren, Donald, Kelly, Kristin, Mark and David; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Richard Herden and the grandfather of the late Mary Beth Herden.
