Ana M. (Silva) Larrivee, 58, of Westport, wife of Gary Larrivee, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at home. Born in Fall River, daughter of Hon. Milton R. Silva of Swansea, and the late Mary C. (Gaspar) Silva, she was raised in Fall River and Swansea, and resided in Westport for the past 33 years.
An accounting clerk with her family funeral business, Silva-Faria Funeral Homes of Fall River and Somerset, she was also employed in the Westport school system for the past seven years, retiring (early due to disability) as executive secretary to the town’s special education director. She was also a RGIS inventory specialist team leader with them for 23 years.
A talented artist, she enjoyed ceramic painting, needlepoint, embroidery, and was especially known for her knitting and design skills. She worked with her sister at Stitchin’ Time knitting/yarn shop located in Fall River, then Providence, over several years, then ran her own shop for a time in Westport (former Village Yarns in Central Village); and was also a partner in a children’s clothing and accessories shop called Sabrina’s of Westport. She had various other jobs in her younger days with: Fall River district court; former US Records of Somerset; Friendly’s, & White’s of Westport (waitressing); and Andy’s (bartending) on the beach in Westport.
Ana had also participated in Westport town politics, with membership in the Westport Republican Town Committee. Ana had also been involved with the Westport Scouting program (volunteering as a den mother and planning Cub Scout events), and the Westport Music Boosters (helping on fundraisers).
A 1960’s flower child turned earth mother, Ana was a natural, fun-loving beauty, a great friend to many, always young at heart and full of life. A positive energy, she enjoyed music and dancing, and good times were sure to be had when she was around.
Besides her husband of 21 years, she leaves a son, Robert A. “Robbie” Larrivee of Westport; a sister, Christine LaFranchi (husband Larry) of Winthrop, Mass.; three brothers, Paul (wife Filomena) Silva of Fall River, Richard (wife Donna), and Martin (wife Kathi) Silva both of Somerset; nieces, nephews, cousins, and two aunts. Following a private cremation, a Memorial Celebration of Life service was held Saturday, March 22, in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River.
