Albert F. Shovelton, 88, Riverside

Albert F. Shovelton, 88, of “Harborview,” 3663 Pawtucket Ave., Riverside, died peacefully on September 6, 2013.  He was the beloved husband of Joan (Silvia) Shovelton.Albert Shovelton 001

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Albert E. and Margaret (Meagher) Shovelton, he lived in Riverside for 41 years.

Mr. Shovelton was a teacher for the North Attleboro School Department for 26 years before retiring in 1997.  He then went onto to teach at St. Brendan School for 5 years. Albert was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and a former member of the church choir. Mr. Shovelton was a Suma *** Lade graduate of The University of Rhode Island Class of 2005 where he also was a member of the Alumni Association.  He was a published author.

Besides his wife of 44 years, he is survived by a son; Brian A. Shovelton of Warwick and two brothers; Rev. William J. Shovelton and Rev. Gerald T. Shovelton, both of Lady Lake, Fla.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday Sept. 10, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside.  Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
