A fund-raiser in honor of a local teenager battling leukemia will be held this month.

On Friday, Sept. 28, Barrington Congregational Church will be the site of Yoga for Emma. The event has been organized by a pair of local yoga instructors, Gretchen Mayhew and Charlottle Love who teach at Synergy Power Yoga and Freedom Yoga, respectively.

The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include a yoga class open to everyone.

Earlier this year, local teenager Emma Katzen was diagnosed with leukemia. Ms. Mayhew said both her and Ms. Love have teenage daughters and the fund-raiser represents a way for local middle and high school students to show support for Emma.

At the request of Emma’s parents, Ms. Mayhew said all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Rhode Island.

Suggested donations for the event include $20 for adults and $10 for tweens and teens. Those planning to attend are asked to bring yoga mats, though a limited number will be on hand that evening.

Donations can also be made by visiting www.lls.org.

Anyone wishing to volunteer or for additional information, e-mails can be sent to CharlotteLoveYoga@gmail.com.
