WESTPORT — Town emergency workers’ ability to keep in touch with state and federal authorities, townspeople and one another should improve thanks to a grant just received from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

The $4,000 Emergency Management Performance Grant will be used to buy and install three television/computer monitors, as well as peripheral hardware, digital antenna, and accessories.

These improvements will allow personnel working in the Westport’s emergency operations center to better monitor and react with changing conditions locally, statewide, and nationally. Westport will also be able to maintain contact with state officials, and have the ability to request any help that Westport might need in a timely fashion.
