Motor vehicle excise tax bills for 2013 have been mailed to Westport residents and are due on or before May 1.  Any bill not paid on time will be subject to a bill which includes a $30 demand fee plus interest at the rate of 12% per annum.  Payments may be made on-line at www.westport-ma.com or at the tax collector’s office Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.  On-line payments are subject to a 35 cent convience fee.  No charge cards are accepted at this time.

Please include the remit section of the bill when mailing in payments.  Also include the school donation portion if making a donation.  If you are making payments with your own bank’s on-line bill pay system, it is imperative that you list the bill number(s) you are paying for in the reference field that your bank provides. Please note that bill numbers change every year. Failure to include this information may result with your check being returned to you without being processed.

The actual Fiscal ’13 real estate and personal property bills have not been sent as the tax rate has not been set.  Bills will be due 30 days from postmark instead of May 1 once they are issued.
