Cold weather doesn’t stop Bristol fishermen

It may have been a cold winter morning Saturday but that didn’t stop local fishermen from claiming their prize.

If you took a drive through Colt State Park this past Saturday morning, you would have seen about a dozen local fishermen working the shallow waters just past the old bridge. These hardy men spent the late morning hours digging for quahogs and steamers during the low tide.

Out of the wind and very shallow during low tide, the cove in Colt State Park offers a safe haven during cold, windy days. This is one of many spots that are opened during the winter months to local Quahoggers. The lower water temperatures and dramatically few boats on the bay, greatly improves water quality allowing for these spots to be opened.
