First is a medal made for the 17th annual convention of the American Legion held in Warren in August 1935. Made of what appears to be lead, with a silk ribbon and “Officer” name plate at top, the old medal was found on eBay by resident John Tattrie, who donated it to the armory.
The next piece is an old music book printed in the 1840s, which was recently found at a yard sale by Eileen Collins of the Warren Preservation Society. Though it’s not specifically an Armory artifact, the book contains a number of references to Warren, including music for the Warren Artillery Co.’s “Quick Step.” The piece of music is dedicated to the Artillery Co.’s Corps, the book reads, by Charles E. Bennett (the company was the group that built the armory in 1842).
Like Mr. Tattrie, Ms. Collins donated the old music book to Historic Warren Armory, Inc.
