Warren weathers Sunday floods

field2Warren weathered Sunday’s torrential rains as well as could be expected, but there was still enough impact to keep crews busy throughout the day. Fire crews evacuated two homes during the storm — one on Ward Avenue, another on Patterson Avenue — due to flooded basements and other water-related issues. And on Franklin Street, crews assisted a resident whose roof started flooding at the height of the rain. Assistant Warren Fire Chief Norm Blank said that overall, impact wasn’t too bad; just “a few water conditions,” he said. Back at work Monday at the Warren wastewater treatment plant, he said he was still busy dealing with effects of the storm on the town’s sewage and drainage systems.
