Morphis Jamiel holds up a Nazi flag that he retrieved from a top a town hall of a German city after the Battle of the Bulge in 1945.

The Battle of The Bulge, the German’s last offensive in World War II, cost some 19,000 American lives and paved the way for the Allies’ victory in the bloody war. Morphis Jamiel was there, has never forgotten it, and now wants others to remember and learn from it.

At 6:30 p.m. ext Wednesday, Sept. 19, Mr. Jamiel will present a large collection of memorabilia from and about the Battle of the Bulge during a ceremony at the George Hail Library. His collection of writings, books, articles, and artifacts from the war — including a Nazi flag, US field kits, helmets and other items — will be on long-term loan “so people can learn about it,” he said Friday.

He knows of what he speaks. Mr. Jamiel was a young soldier attached to the 7th Armored Division, 38th Armored Infantry Battalion, Company B, when the battle, also known as the Ardennes offensive broke out in December 1944.
