Warren selling old VFW post

Warren’s old Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) headquarters is on the market.
The town is soliciting bids and offers for the modest one-story building at 308 Metacom Ave., across the street from Perella’s Ristorante. Those interested in the property have until the end of November to submit proposals.
It’s not a big building, covering only 600 square feet, and the lot is small, too — just an eighth of an acre. Should town officials find a use for it deemed acceptable by the town council, it will be up to voters to endorse it, by voting for or against the building’s sale at a Financial Town Meeting.
The building was built in 1928 and for years served as a meeting place for veterans; it, and the land on which it sits, is assessed by the town at $118,400.
