Mathew Sousa, 19, of 8 Joseph Drive, was charged with felony receiving stolen goods over $1,500, after police pulled him over at the intersection of Market Street and Lambert Lane. Police redacted the arrest from last week’s log.
Tuesday, August 13
Police were called to Norbert Street for a stray cat, and Seymour Street for a barking dog. Later, a call for two stray cats came in from Federal Street.
A caller found a hypodermic needle on the ground on Cutler Street.
A woman reported phone harassment.
The animal control officer went to Fern Drive after hearing of a cat bite there.
Police were called to Metacom Avenue for a landlord/tenant dispute over lead.
A man asked that police check on the well-being of a woman he saw huddling under a blanket near the old baseball field at Jamiel’s Park.
Another hypodermic needle was found, this one on Child Street.
Eric G. Serabian, 25, of 24 Buffalo Ave., was arrested on a bench warrant issued by Sixth Division District Court in Providence.
Wednesday, August 14
Antone Sylvia, 44, of Riverside, was pulled over on Child Street at 1:56 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense; BAC .15 or greater.
A man asked that police remove an unwanted woman from his apartment.
Police spotted a woman sleeping off the side of Market Street at 7 a.m., and took her back to her home on Joyce Street.
A Jefferson Street woman complained that someone put trash in front of her home.
Craig J. Silva, 24, of 35 State St., was arrested at 10:02 a.m. on a bench warrant issued by Sixth Division District Court in Providence, after a woman asked police to remove him from her home.
Fire crews were called out to a toaster oven fire at a Metacom Avenue address.
A neighbor dispute on Third Street provoked a police response.
A State Street woman complained to police at 4:23 p.m. that her grandson had just walked back into her home, violating a temporary restraining order put in place earlier. As a result police again arrested Craig J. Silva, 24, of 35 State St., charging him this time with violating a protective order.
A Manning Street resident complained that a neighbor laid a drain pipe underneath the sidewalk.
An unruly juvenile on Water Street was advised to behave.
A man and woman were spotted arguing on Vernon Street.
Thursday, August 15
A Hezekiah Drive man told police that someone broke into his car. Less than an hour later, police got a report that a GPS was stolen from a car parked on Reservoir Avenue. Additional calls came in: from Kathleen Drive, where a wallet, electronics and paperwork were stolen; and from Highview Avenue, where a woman reported a car break but wasn’t sure if anything was stolen, and another woman reported stolen items. Two calls came in from Buffalo Avenue, as well as Matthew Drive. Later, a man found items believed to have been stolen from cars near Highview Avenue. Police returned the items to the owners.
A woman asked for a police escort while she retrieved her belongings from a Norbert Street home.
A loose pit bull call came in from State Street.
Items were reported stolen from cars on Arthur Avenue and Highview Avenue.
A woman on Main Street received harassing telephone calls.
A caller reported possible drug activity on Joyce Street.
Police dispersed an unwanted party from an address on Market Street.
People were reported for arguing on Homestead Avenue.
Police got a call about a possible drunk bicyclist on Metacom Avenue. An officer checked it out and found no problem, though the biker was advised not to ride his bike through the construction zone.
Friday, August 16
A suspicious man out for a walk just before 2 a.m. on Metacom Avenue told police he was because he couldn’t sleep.
A man brought a Scottie dog into the police station after finding it on Franklin Street. Apparently the dog jumped out of a moving car just prior; the owners also went to the police station looking for their dog, and were reunited.
A verbal disturbance was reported on Market Street.
Saturday, August 17
Someone complained that people were talking loudly on Virginia Street, at about 1:20 a.m.
A lawn ornament was reported stolen from Bridge Street.
A woman asked that police drive by her Child Street home while her ex-husband removed his items.
A man was reported for yelling and swearing on Child Street just before 4 p.m.
Sunday, August 18
A computer was reported stolen from Franklin Street.
An Everett Street man reported having a verbal argument with his wife.
Someone found a syringe on Water Street.
