Warren man gets second DUI in four months after wreck

Editor’s Note: The DUI charge reported below was later dismissed, on Aug. 30, 2013.

A Warren man whose driving privileges had already been suspended for driving drunk earlier this year was arrested again last Tuesday after police said he crashed his car into a truck, street sign and tree while driving drunk.

Police said Dante Blancarte, 31, of 38 Market St., Apt. 2, was driving west on Market St. just after 5 p.m. when he lost control of his Chevrolet Cavalier near the intersection of Barney Street and struck a pickup truck passing in the opposite direction. After striking the truck his Cavalier took out a street sign and crashed into a small tree, police said. Mr. Blancarte was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, second offense within five years, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license. Following the accident he was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, and released. Later, he was summonsed to court for arraignment and turned himself in to Warren police.

Mr. Blancarte was arrested on DUI charges in March; in April, a judge ordered the suspension of his license for three months.

  1. Why isn’t this man in jail? Are they waiting for him to kill or maim an innocent bystander? People I love are on these streets I want them safe, don’t you?
