Warren group offers free meal on Christmas Day

Volunteers led by Warren Unit 11 of the American Legion Auxiliary will prepare and deliver holiday meals on Christmas Day to the elderly, homebound and needy in Barrington, Bristol, Warren and Riverside.
Anyone who wants a meal should call 245-5431 by Sunday, Dec. 23, and leave a message. Anyone who is interested in volunteering, either by preparing or delivering the meals, or cleaning up after, should call the same number.
The meals will be prepared on Christmas Day at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Metacom Avenue, Warren, for delivery beginning at 11:30 a.m. They consist of ham, potatoes, string beans, pineapple/raisin gravy, roll and butter, and dessert.
The Auxiliary will be assisted by members of American Legion Post 104 of Warren, the Warren Association of Vietnam Veterans, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, and volunteers throughout the East Bay. The groups and volunteers expect to deliver approximately 180 meals. Unlike the Auxiliary’s Thanksgiving Day meal program, no meals will be served in the church hall on Christmas Day.
