Sandy and Bill Davock thought they’d get a few dozen coats when they decided recently to hold a coat drive at their Market Street Pub recently. Little did they know, their customers were feeling generous. The drive, held about a week ago, netted about 300 coats and jackets, all of which will be donated to a needy school in South Providence. And with another month or so to go before the coats are due to be delivered, Mrs. Davock said they have room for more donations. “We’ll take as many as we can get,” she said. The drive wasn’t the only thing the Davocks did for the school, which they learned about from a friend. They agreed to keep the school’s name private upon request, but did say it runs K-8 and is in a very needy section of town. Apart from the drive, they also had a 50/50 raffle. “The turnout was amazing, in these tough times, people really went above and beyond,” said Ms. Davock.
