The numbers are in, and it’s official — a lot of people voted in Monday night’s Special Financial Town Meeting at Kickemuit Middle School in Warren.
Canvassers say 383 Warren voters had their say at the meeting, held to determine whether the town should sell the Main Street School to the Hope & Main kitchen incubator group for $125,000. The motion passed via hand count, and it appeared as if fewer than 10 residents voted ‘nay.’
The meeting was also held to authorize another town meeting, the last hurdle to be cleared before the town sells the building: an all-day Adjourned Town Meeting, held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Warren Town Hall. Unlike Monday night’s vote, no quorum is required for the adjourned meeting; voters need only vote for or against the sale of the building.
