EAST PROVIDENCE — The staff and administration of Tockwotton on the Waterfront in East Providence conducted its final moving day for staff and administration on Monday, Jan. 17, Tockwotton Executive Director Kevin McKay announced in a recent press release.

The Tockwotton community leaves the building in Providence that the organization has called home for 157 years for a 137,754-square-foot, five-story, $52.3 million, newly constructed residence along the East Providence waterfront.

The move from 75 East St. to 500 Waterfront Drive is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. It was hoped the new building would be ready for use in mid-December of last year.

The non-profit Tockwotton Home was constructed in 1856 and is based on a traditional medical care model.  In response to resident needs, the organization has built Tockwotton on the Waterfront to reflect a household model of care that will provide greater independence and self determination to 156 seniors in need of assisted living and memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing care. Tockwotton is a five-star Medicare community.
