Pianist/singer to appear May 30 on AMC
A self-taught Tiverton pianist and singer has made the final-four cut to appear in “Showville,” an AMC-TV talent competition series.
Elliot Ricci survived the early auditions rounds at the Courthouse Center for the Arts in Kingston, RI, to make the cut from among the singers, dancers, comedians and more who tried out. The unscripted series is described by the show as “a celebration of performing and a fond, funny look at the lives, workplaces and families of local talent acts and what happens to them when Hollywood comes to town.”
“A mild-mannered dental hygienist by day, Ellliot Ricci transforms into a self-taught rock & roll, boogie woogie piano player by night,” the show promoters said.””Surrounded by his many pets including lizards, snakes, birds, fish and possibly a spider you will enjoy watching his transformation as he rocks the house with his original single, ‘Boogie Woogie a la King,’ Elliot’s recipe for the type of music he most enjoys performing. You may even get a chance to see Elliot perform with his fiance, Myra Edelstein, when they play, “Boogie with the Fish”, another boogie woogie number documenting how they met, not surprisingly, at a pet shop.”
Showville ‘mentors’ — actor/director Alec Mapa and choreographer Lisette Bustamante – selected the four finalists who then faced two days of intense coaching. That led to a stage appearance in front of friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to show off their skills and earn the audience’s vote.
The entire process, including performances, and the audience verdicts, will be revealed on AMC when the show, consisting of eight one-hour episodes, premieres on Thursday, May 23, at 9 p.m.
“Each week, a one-hour episode of “Showville” touches down in a quintessentially American small town and puts together a talent show in a mere four days.” The episode in which Mr. Ricci and the Kingston competition appear will be featured is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, at 9 p.m.
