After receiving a report at 7:30 p.m. that a male dressed in black was attempting to enter vehicles on Windwood Drive in Tiverton, police went to the scene and observed a car without lights approaching them. The car drove around police who, in two vehicles, pursued it and succeeded in boxing it in. The driver was ordered out of the car, but left the car in drive, causing his car to rear-end one of the two police cars. The driver, a 15 year-old boy dressed all in black had no license and was driving the family car. He was charged with unauthorized use of a car, tampering with vehicles, driving without a license, and eluding police. He was released into the custody of his parents and referred to family court.
Sunday, Dec. 22
After being stopped at Main Road and Route 177 at 1:45 a.m., Darren Correia, 47, of Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (0.183 and 0.193 blood alcohol reading), speeding (63 mph in a 40 mph zone), running a stop sign, and laned roadway violations.
At 11:15 p.m., Nicholas Hoetzel, 22, of 71 Bucks Way, Tiverton was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stop after an accident, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test, having alcohol in his car, and passing another car where passing is prohibited.
