EAST PROVIDENCE — The following is a list of events taking place in an around East Providence over the upcoming weekend, Dec. 14-16…

Locals feature in Festival Ballet ‘Nutcracker’
Festival Ballet Providence performs “The Nutcracker” on Dec.14, 15 and 16 at Providence Performance Arts Center, on Weybosset Street, Providence. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. All are cast as “candy dolls” and all are from Seekonk or East Providence.  Call the box office for tickets at (401) 421-ARTS (2787) or visit the website at www.ppacri.org.

‘Alice in Wonderland’ plays at St. Andrews
ACT@St. Andrew’s (ACTSA) is pleased to present “Alice in Wonderland”, adapted by Brainerd Duffield. Lovable Alice falls down the rabbit hole and becomes involved in that madcap and deliciously fun series of adventures as immortalized by Lewis Carroll. All your favorite characters are here from the whimsical White Rabbit to the mesmerizing Mad Hatter. It’s a zany escapade that’s perfect for the entire family. With direction by Laura Minadeo, this charming tale runs for three performances only, Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec.15, and Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. at the McCulloch Center for the Arts, St. Andrew’s School, 63 Federal Road, Barrington. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children. Group discounts are available. All tickets are sold at the door. ACTSA performances are open to the public. Historical Society sets December events schedule
The East Providence Historical Society will host its holiday turkey dinner at the Newman Church on Monday, Dec. 17. A full turkey dinner, prepared by the fine cooks of the Society, will be served at 6 p.m. Entertainment will follow at 7 p.m. The public is warmly welcomed but reservations are necessary. Lions sell Crescent Park-themed Christmas ornaments
The Rumford Lions has introduced the fifth in a series of Christmas ornaments that depict historic icons of East Providence. The first issue in the series (2008) was the clock tower at East Providence Senior High School and the second issue (2009) was the gate at Pierce Memorial Field, 2010 was Weaver Library and last year was a Christmas Wreath that depicted Townie Pride. This year’s ornament is colorful and displays the Alhambra Ballroom and the rollercoaster at Crescent Park. Ornaments are available from any member of the Rumford Lions or you may order via email at rumfordlions@cox.net or via telephone at 401 474-1212. Ornaments are $16 each and if the ornament is to be mailed to you, add $1.50 per ornament. They will also be sold at the Newman Congregational Church Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 14. The ornament, which was manufactured by the same company that makes official White House Christmas Ornament, is multi colored gold plated brass. Not only will they look great on your Christmas Tree they also make great gifts for family, friends and co-workers. Also don’t forget that displaced Townie living in other areas of the country & world. Legion Post 10 hosts children’s holiday party
The Riverside American Legion Post 10 holds a Children’s Holiday Party on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. Come and celebrate the holiday season with us. Santa will be handing out presents. Games and Prizes, Arts and Crafts. Cost of admission is a canned good donation to the Riverside Food Bank. The American Legion Post 10 is located at 830 Willett Ave.

K-Rob Foundation hosts holiday bowling benefit
A Holiday Bowling Event to benefit the K-Rob Foundation takes place Sunday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the East Providence Bowling Academy, 554 Taunton Ave. Christmas time is here. Come join a fun day full of cheer. Lace up the bowling shoes for this day sure to enthuse. Bowling, raffles, songs from the DJ. Help support kids from the East Bay. Adults bowl for $10. Children 18-and-under bowl for free. Call the Bowling Academy at 401-454-5653 to reserve a time. Children 12-and-under must be accompanied by an adult. EPFOP holds weekly lobster raffle
The East Providence Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge No. 1 conducts a weekly Lobster Raffle at the Trinity Brotherhood Club, 146 Woodward Ave, continuing each Sunday through March at 2 p.m. each afternoon. Weekly prizes also include a 40-inch flat screen television.

E.P. Parks & Rec holds family night out
The East Providence Parks & Recreation Department is offering fun youth activities during December. All programs are held at the Recreation Center, 100 Bullocks Point Ave. To register and/or for more information call 401-433-6360. A Children’s Night Out takes place Friday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. Youth members ages 6-12 can enjoy arts n’ crafts, games & more. Pizza & drinks provided. $10 per child.
