The team, dubbed the “Storm Stoppers,” participated in the fourth qualifier competition Sunday, Dec. 8, held at Salve Regina, along with the school’s seventh-grade robotics team, the “Flood Rushers.”
At the state championship, the team will compete against 39 other state teams that also qualified. The Storm Stoppers also won the “core values” award, which is presented to the one team who embodied the values of teamwork, gracious professionalism and working and competing together.
The team demonstrated an understanding that sometimes what is best for the team is not always what’s best for any one individual. This required some students to skip their programs and allow other programs to be run during the robot competition which provided the team a higher chance of success.
During the morning judging sessions, they worked together to provide a unified voice of all the aspects of preparations for storms and solutions.
