Protesters confront Gov. Lincoln Chafee at the ceremonial opening of the new Sakonnet River Bridge.
The hearings were scheduled after many protested that the toll plan was included in the state budget before any economic impact study had been conducted.
The first meeting is at Portsmouth High School Auditorium on Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. The second meeting is at Tiverton High School Auditorium on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
Officials from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Auhority, and other agencies will be present to hear public testimony about the proposed toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge.
The Portsmouth Business Association this week asked “concerned citizens, residents, taxpayers, commuters, tourists, business owners and all people affected by the toll to attend the meeting to tell officials the effect of the toll on your situation and on your business.”
