Warren has its own shoe store again, and it looks a lot like its old institution, Jamiel’s Shoe World. The new Savon shoes opened last week and held a grand opening celebration this weekend, with owner David Grande (shown) and store manager Francis Jamiel running the show. Mr. Jamiel closed his family-run business earlier this year, but announced a few months later that he’ll be partnering with Mr. Grande to re-open the old storefront. Savon Shoes operates several other locations in the northern part of the state.

Did Jamiel’s ever repay the Stimulus loan?

$400,000 for an antiquated shoe store with little inventory. Absurd. It’s 2012, not 1953.
I saw a TV spot on this and he did say that it was one of the reasons for going back in the business. They absolutely plan on paying back the loan.
