WESTPORT — The Planning Board invites the public, especially people who live and/or work in Central Village, to participate in the second Central Village Forum — What Makes Central Village Central Village.
The Forum will be held in the gymnasium, Town Hall Annex, on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. This is an opportunity for local stakeholders to set the priorities for future design standards for Central Village.
On June 26, approximately 30 people participated in the first Central Village Forum, including members of the Planning Board, Central Village residents, property owners, town officials, local businesspeople and members of the general public. The purpose was to initiate an exchange of ideas and perspectives for the planning, design, and future land use for Central Village.
Participants spoke generally about opportunities and challenges in Central Village i.e. ‘What do you love about Central Village?’ or ‘What would you change if you could?’ They also identified priorities for future planning.
This second forum will build on the last forum with a review of the changes in Central Village, particularly over the last 30 years. Participants will explore what Central Village through a timeline of historic development changes, group activities that focus on current development possibilities, and a survey of participants’ visual preferences about streetscape and building forms.
The goal of this process is to identify next steps that the Planning Board should take in terms of design standards, regulations, or zoning bylaws.
