Seniors Caroline Coleman and John Rockwell took first place at a Barrington High School talent show last Tuesday night that included plenty of singing, dancing and even a surprise teacher flash mob.

Caroline and John received the night top prize, $100, for duet of the Rihanna song “Stay.” Caroline sang the hit song accompanied by John on piano.

Sophomore Ben Alexander won a $50 second place prize for a yo-yo demonstration while a group of about a dozen students representing Rocky Silva’s American Karate broke boards and cement with their bare hands to split a $25 third place prize.

Another standout performance, however, came courtesy of a few high school teachers. Social studies teacher Allison Greco and English teacher Meagan Corr organized a flash mob that seemingly sprang to life out of nowhere during the competition. The brief routine, which started in the crowd before moving into the aisles and onto the stage, featured a mash-up of songs from Usher to Carly Rae Jepsen.

Representatives of the junior and senior class committees organized the talent show. Proceeds from the event will be used to offset prom costs.
