PORTSMOUTH — The School Committee voted unanimously Tuesday night to pay new Interim Supt. Barbara E. McGann a salary of $132,000 for the 2013-14 academic year.
“There are no health benefits and there are no pension benefits,” said Committee Chairman David Croston, adding that Ms. McGann will receive five weeks of vacation.
Ms. McGann, a retired rear admiral in the U.S. Navy, was appointed interim superintendent Aug. 19.
Ms. McGann replaces Jeffrey Schoonover, who had been working as interim school chief in the absence of Lynn Krizic. Dr. Krizic requested and was granted a 30-day leave of absence from the superintendent’s job in June, then resigned July 31.
The committee also voted unanimously to approve an employment contract for Mr. Schoonover, who has been named assistant superintendent. He will be paid a salary of $120,000.
