PORTSMOUTH — Students in the public schools will get a second day off thanks to Hurricane Sandy.

At about 1:30 p.m. Monday, an automated call was placed to parents, letting them know that classes had been cancelled for Tuesday. No regular or special education programs will be in session.

The decision was made in anticipation of predicted power outages, interruptions to public transportation, hazardous road conditions and localized flooding.
