East Providence’s Silver Spring Elementary School holds annual Science Fair

EAST PROVIDENCE — The Silver Spring Elementary School located in the Kent Heights section of the city held its annual Science Fair Thursday, April 11.

Judging took place over a period of time after school Thursday. Parents and family members were next able to view the projects. An awards ceremony capped off the event.

According to Silver Spring teacher Cathy Cabral, all fourth and fifth graders, 82 in total, participated in the fair. The students were judged on the organization and planning in their science notebooks, their research report, their backboard/visual and their oral presentation to the judges. The judges were made up of teachers, retired teachers/staff and other members of the community.

Winners were as follows:
Grade 4 —  1st Place: Marisa Silva, 2nd Place: Aiyonna Enos, 3rd Place: Sydney Ribeiro
Grade 5 — 1st Place: Ashley Cassino, 2nd Place: Rachel Bettencourt, 3rd Place: Paige Messier
