East Providence, Tiverton High girls’ soccer clubs play to goalless draw

EAST PROVIDENCE — The host East Providence and Tiverton High School girls’ soccer teams played to a scoreless draw Tuesday night, Oct. 1, in a Division II encounter at Pierce Memorial Stadium.

Most of the contest was played between the 18-yard boxes. Both sides did muster an attack but neither could beat the other’s goalkeeper. East Providence’s Devon Federowicz made 11 saves in posting her cleansheet. Amber Silva was credited with eight saves for the visiting Tigers.

The tie broke a five-game losing streak for the host Townies, who saw their league record move to 2-5-1. East Providence next plays at Ponaganset Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, at 3:45 p.m.

For the Tigers, the draw was their fourth (1-2-4) of the season and their second nil-nil scoreline. Tiverton is home for Warwick Vets Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock.
