The Barrington-Portsmouth girls’ hockey co-op returned to its winning ways this week with victories over the Smithfield-North Smithfield co-op and the Narragansett-South Kingstown-North Kingstown co-op.

Sophomore defender Danielle Makucevich and freshman forward Stephanie Galbraith also tallied single assists while junior forward Julia Flaherty finished with three assists.
The Eagles’ second win of the week came Wednesday, Jan. 2, in the annual J.P. Medeiros Jr. Memorial Cup. Barrington-Portsmouth defeated Narragansett 5-2 with two goals a piece from Kraunelis, Makucevich and a single goal from Miller. Sophmore forward Leah Hoder, Makucevich and senior forward Jessica Doherty posted assists.
Head coach Deneen Stebenne that while the team beat Smithfield in spite of some sluggish, out-of-position play, the victory over Narragansett was “awesome” with a solid performance from every player on the team.
“They’re working really hard,” Stebenne said.
“The work ethic is awesome.”
The victories came following Barrington-Portsmouth’s 9-0 defeat to LaSalle Academy. The co-op skates again on Friday, Jan. 4 in a game with Mt. St. Charles followed by the Eagles’ final regular season match with Smithfield one day later.
