The Barrington High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams defeated East Greenwich Wednesday night.
The boys’ team won 58-36 while the girls won 60-32.
Head coach Sandy Gorham said both squads performed well overall though a couple swimmers have posted big improvements in recent weeks.
Freshman Jack Fortin, for example, shortened his breast stroke time by four seconds against EG. Gorham said Fortin has “exploded” in the last week with a breast stroke time that now ranks third in the state.
Gorham also said Fortin’s improvement allows him to place senior Andres Solanot, senior Zack Herchen and junior Zeke DeWitt as the team’s medley relay team, a squad he believes could be top three in Rhode Island.
Sophmore Bobby Jackson, meanwhile, dropped his 100 freestyle time by six seconds, slipping beneath the one minute mark. Junior Evan Schoaf also broke one minute in the 100 free.
On the girls’ side, Gorham said freshman Alicia Vesey stood out with a personal best in the 200 freestyle. She also broke the one minute mark in the 100 freestyle.
