Barrington High School senior Jack Liang was named one of two state winners of the 2012-13 Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement.
The award – and a $,2000 scholarship – is given to the top performers in science and math Advance Placement (AP) courses in each state.
Only 101 students in the country were honored with the Siemens award and scholarship.
Jack has taken a total of 15 AP courses to date.
His favorite was BC calculus.
He also was selected as a National Merit Semifinalist this year and plans to study mathematics in college. Jack is a member of the high school science Olympiad team, a volunteer with the National Honor Society and a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams.
