Head coach Sandy Gorham said it was a good showing for the squad, highlighted by a few noteworthy individual performances. Freshman Grace Bellamy placed second in the 100 meter breaststroke, the Eagles best finish of the day.
Bellamy was also part of Barrington’s 200 meter medley relay team that dropped its time by three seconds to finish sixth. The group also included freshman Alicia Vesey, and seniors Heidi Herchen and Olivia August.
Vesey posted another strong performance in the individual medley, dropping her time by seven seconds to finish 12th.
Gorham said the meet was a good opportunity to see how Barrington’s swimmers stack up with competition from around the state, especially as the season’s training regiment moves from conditioning to more event-specific drills.
“It’s an excellent time to see where we are,” Gorham said.
“Instead of going out for a long, slow jog, now we’re running sprints around the track, to use a track analogy.”
