The Barrington High School girls’ field hockey team came up one game shy of back-to-back state titles Monday night.

The Eagles lost the Division I championship match to Moses Brown before a packed crowd at Roger Williams University.

Moses Brown struck first in the contest. Senior midfielder Lucy Green was awarded a penalty stroke following a corner opportunity about 10 minutes into the first half. Green, who was named tournament MVP, took advantage of the chance, knocking the ball in past the right side of Barrington goalie Sophie Faxon.

Moses Brown’s second goal of the night came roughly five minutes into the second half. Junior forward Hannah Langmuir scored off of Moses Brown’s fourth corner opportunity.

Barrington’s lone goal came off a penalty stroke about halfway through the second half. Sophomore midfielder Katelyn McMahon slapped the ball in to the right of Moses Brown’s goalie.

Despite a few late scoring opportunities, including a last minute scoring chance, Barrington was unable to score again.
