The developer of a Touisset subdivision is asking for an exception to town regulations that require sprinkler systems in homes built in areas not served by the town water supply.
Developers for Rockland Acres, a small subdivision off Touisset Road, were set to appear before the Warren Planning Board Monday night to ask for relief from the rule, which they believe would be prohibitively expensive. However, the developer’s attorney, Bruce Cox, asked that the matter be delayed until next month.
Though the developers want relief from the sprinkler rule, the small subdivision — at this point, several parcels yet to be built upon — would be served by underground water storage tanks. At a planning board meeting last month, though, Warren Fire Chief Al Galinelli said he doesn’t believe having the underground water storage is enough; he still wants to see sprinklers, he told the board.
Board chairman Fred Massie said Monday that he believes developers may propose adding additional underground water storage at next month’s meeting.Add to favorites
