Area emergency workers have been alerted to a possible airplane down in Narragansett Bay in waters”east of Greenwich Bay.”

A bulletin went out at about 7:50 p.m. to be on the lookout for a small plane that went off radar. It may have been attempting to evade a larger plane.

At 8:16 a.m., a rescuer reported nothing found yet — “possible unfounded,” but the search continues.

At 8:45 a.m., Prudence Island police said they had checked around the island air strip but found nothing.
